Trail Map

February 2, 2012:
We hope you were able to take advantage of the Mammoth Nordic Trail System last week. It's our privilege to provide great (and Free!) XC trails for our community.

Alas, Mother Nature has returned to her stingy ways; our ability to lay down great Classic & Skate conditions requires a little more cooperation from the white stuff. In some places enough snow remains to carve out clean, white trails, but most loops have thin spots that lead to a poor product and unnecessary wear and tear on the Nordoni. The carbide runners that provide steering run about $300 a pair and current conditions can, well, see for yourself:

The black one is new....
the carbide steel runners
can cut ice for steering, but
are no match for asphalt.
When the steel is gone, we
wreck a Carbon Fiber ski...
not a good idea at $600 each.

Based on existing conditions and to avoid breaking expensive stuff, we will be grooming on a very intermittent basis in the days ahead. If you choose to get out and play, please use caution, watch for obstacles and XC ski within your ability.

Please know our volunteer commitment is bullet-proof and you will see more evidence of our best grooming work soon, I just know it.

Until then, LIke Us on Facebook and stay tuned to our website & Facebook for news about February events and grooming updates. While I’m at it, thank you so very much for your support!

January 23, 2012:
We popped the cork today on what we hope will be a strong finish to the Winter of 2012. The Nordoni has risen to the occasion and great Classic and Skate conditions abound, starting from your dedicated Nordic Trailhead a tthe Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center. Enjoy!

Grab those skinny skis, a few friends and go maketracks! Stay tuned for more updates on our Facebook page about more events we have in the works.

March 28, 2011:
We thank you for your support, your participation, your help, and your appreciation of our work.  Yet, as happens every spring, the sun begins to warm the snow, the days grow longer, and the skis are eventually put away to wait again for winter.  We will focus on needed Nordoni maintenance as well as plans to resume operations come winter 2011-2012.
See you when the snow flies again.
